Brent is a graduate of the class of 2001. He earned nine varsity letters while participating for the Vikings, three each in football, basketball and baseball. As a football player, Brent played on teams that qualified for two state playoff appearances. The 1998 team won the MSL title. Brent earned Mid-State League 2nd team honors as a sophomore and 1st team honors as a junior and senior. He was named Central District 1st team all three years and was the Central District Defensive Player of the Year his senior season. He was named 1st team All Ohio during his senior year. After his senior season, Brent held seven different football records.

In baseball, Brent earned Mid-State League 1st team honors twice and was named Central District 2nd team his senior year. The 2001 Viking baseball team won the Mid-State League championship.

Brent was a member of the National Honor Society, graduated with a 4.03 GPA, received the OHSAA Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award and the Teays Valley Athletic Boosters Scholar Athlete Award.

He continued his education at Miami University, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications and Marketing. He graduated Cum Laude having maintained a 3.5 GPA.
