Roger served the Teays Valley Schools as a teacher and coach for 33 years. He coached baseball for 30 years and basketball for 16. As a basketball coach, he coached at all levels from middle school to high school at some time during his career.

He will be remembered most for his accomplishments in baseball where he served 8 years as a JV coach and 22 as head coach. His teams won 317 games, seven league championships, one District Championship and one District Runner-up. He won seven Coach of the Year Awards in the Mid-State-League. Coach Campbell was a highly respected baseball coach in the Central District as his teams were well coached in the fundamentals. He was inducted into the Mid State League’s Hall of Fame in 1996
